Starting with Peah, one cluster of grapes is marked with ribbon and set aside.
Another cluster is set aside for Terumah Gedolah and a larger cluster gets designated for Maaser Rishon – which is given to the Kohein.
The Maasros are then distributed to the Kohein, Levi, and Ani (pauper), and the Terumos are buried.
You partner with a farmer, leasing one grapevine with its soil in his vineyard.
You receive a signed partnership agreement and certificate, with your plot number.
The plot is now registered under your name, halachically and legally, for the duration of your lease.
Rabbi Reichenberg shlit”a acts as your shaliach in carrying out the Mitzvos Hateluyos Ba’aretz.
You can visit your vineyard at any time, by scheduling a visit with L’Kayeim.
Many farmers live far from established communities
and the lack of connection affects their spirituality.
Often, the growth attained during the year of shmitah
fades as the years go by.Leading rabbanim across Israel have asked Keren
Hashviis to continue the bond with the Shomer Shviis
farmers during the years between shmitos. Thus, L’Kayeim was founded – a new initiative bringing
farmers together with events and programs
throughout the year, aimed at strengthening their
commitment and offering invaluable resources and
spiritual assistance.

L’kayeim brings you the opportunity to partake in Mitzvos unique to the land of Israel by leasing a grapevine in the farm of a Torah observant farmer.
For centuries, the Jewish people have been fulfilling the commandments specific to those living in the Land of Israel.
For decades, shmitah-observant farmers, with the support of their brothers and sisters, have continued to honor these Mitzvos Hatelyos Ba’aretz with joy and fortitude.
Today, YOU can have the unique privilege of partaking in these holy, exclusive commandments, by leasing a grapevine, no matter where you live.
L'kayeim connects Jews around the world to both Israel's farmers and to the unique commandments of the land of Israel. By leasing a grapevine from a Shmitah observant farmer, you are partaking in the following seven Mitzvos, exclusive to the land of Israel:
